Booking Confirmation
- All reservations are confirmed only upon receipt of valid credit card details or advance payment.
- The person making the booking must be at least 18 years of age and is deemed responsible for all guests in the booking party.
- Rates are quoted in NZD, inclusive of GST (if any), and are subject to change without notice until confirmed.
Cancellations & Non-Arrival
Unless different cancellation conditions were disclosed for the selected rate when the booking was made:
- A booking may be cancelled up to 24 hours before the 2:00 PM check-in time on the scheduled day of arrival.
- If a prepaid booking is cancelled within this period, the refundable accommodation amount will be returned less any non-refundable payment processing fees actually charged to Amity Motel in relation to that payment.
- Cancellations received within 24 hours of check-in, and non-arrivals, will be charged the full booking amount.
- Early departures are treated as cancellations of the unused nights and are non-refundable.
- All cancellations must be received in writing by email at info@amitymotel.co.nz.
- Non-refundable, promotional, group or other specially conditioned rates remain subject to the cancellation terms disclosed when the booking was made.
Our Right to Cancel
Guest-requested amendments are subject to availability and the conditions of the rate originally booked.
If an amendment reduces the value of a prepaid booking and a partial refund is approved, the refund will be the applicable refundable amount less any non-refundable payment processing fees actually incurred by Amity Motel in relation to the refunded payment.
An amendment does not restart or extend the applicable cancellation period. If the amended booking costs more, the guest must pay the difference.
Our Right to Cancel or Modify a Booking
In rare circumstances, Amity Motel may need to cancel or modify a booking because of safety concerns, property damage, maintenance issues, force majeure or other circumstances affecting our ability to provide the booked accommodation.
If we cancel a booking for a reason within our control, any amount paid directly to Amity Motel will be refunded in full without deduction of payment processing fees. We may offer alternative accommodation or alternative dates, but the guest is not required to accept them.
Where cancellation results from circumstances outside our reasonable control, the guest’s rights and any refund will be determined by the booking terms and applicable New Zealand law.
Nothing in this policy limits any rights or remedies available under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993, the Fair Trading Act 1986 or other applicable New Zealand law.
Refunds
Refunds are provided in accordance with the cancellation conditions applicable to the booking and New Zealand consumer law.
- Where a guest cancels or reduces a prepaid booking and is entitled to a full or partial refund under the applicable booking conditions, Amity Motel will refund the applicable amount less any payment processing fees that were actually charged to Amity Motel and are not returned by the payment provider.
- The amount retained will not exceed the payment processing cost actually incurred by Amity Motel. If the payment provider returns the processing fee, that fee will not be deducted from the guest’s refund.
- Payment processing fees will not be deducted where Amity Motel cancels for a reason within its control, where the charge resulted from an error attributable to Amity Motel, or where New Zealand law requires a full refund.
- No refund applies to cancellations within 24 hours of check-in, non-arrival or early departure after check-in, unless required by law or agreed otherwise in writing.
- Refunds are returned to the original payment method in New Zealand dollars. Once processed, they will generally appear within 5–10 business days, depending on the payment provider and the guest’s bank.
- Bookings made through a third-party provider, including Booking.com or Expedia, are subject to that provider’s cancellation and refund conditions. Refund requests must be made through the relevant provider.
